We went with a white tree this year! We actually have a big 9 foot pre-lit green tree but, since moving back into our old house with 8ft. ceilings, it was not going to fit. I think this works out great because this house lends more to the style of decor that I prefer and that involves a lot of white! I love white. My sister was in town over Thanksgiving so she was able to help me decorate it. The crazy part? Found the tree at Wal-Mart for $39. What!

This Starbucks Hot Cocoa was a spur of the moment purchase, but has become a favorite of ours when we want to relax together and watch a Christmas movie. Trae and I both really like dark chocolate, and this one is double chocolate!! Oooh :)

For me, no Christmas is complete without watching Pacific Northwest Ballet‘s Nutcracker! Stowell & Sendak’s take on the classic story was made into a motion picture in 1986 which, until this year, I had been watching on a VHS tape! Our friend, Jonathan, was kind enough to transfer the tape onto a DVD for us so now I can easily pop it in whenever I like! (And wouldn’t you know, they finally release a DVD version of the movie this season.)

Thanksgiving and Christmas are about the only times of the year that I think about burning candles. Since we don’t have a fireplace, we like the crackling sound from the WoodWick candles. I was in Bath & Body Works the other day and they were having a big sale on their 3-Wick candles so I smelled them all and decided on the scent Snowed In. I honestly didn’t think about it until I got home that the candle is named after one of my favorite Christmas albums…

Left to Right, here are some of my favorite Christmas tunes: Paste Magazine’s Holiday Sampler, our friend Kristopher’s annual holiday mix Christmas with the Captain, The Hotel Cafe presents Winter Songs, Sleeping At Last Christmas Collection 2012, Hanson Snowed In, Michael BublĂ© Christmas, Glee The Christmas Album. One song that I can listen to over and over: “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson on the Winter Songs album. I’d love choreograph a dance to that song.

Lastly (and I only categorize this as “holiday” because we got it over Thanksgiving), we love having a laptop again! When Trae and I first started dating in 2004 he had a Powerbook G3 Pismo (you know, the same computer Carrie Bradshaw used!) but it died not long after we were together and we’ve been laptopless since. Gasp! Like I mentioned at the top of this post, my sister was in town over Thanksgiving and she was given Dad’s old Powerbook, so we got her old Macbook! It’s been luxurious browsing the internet while sitting on the couch. I realize that we are probably the last people on earth to do this lol.

We’re headed to the mountains for a bit next week after our Christmas celebrations…Follow me on Instagram to see what we’re up to :) And if I don’t blog again before Tuesday, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Kathryn - Where is the Seattle Symphony Christmas album I designed?!?! :P
I haven’t been able to watch the Nutcracker for a long time since we don’t have a VHS player. They kept playing it on TV on a channel we don’t have and it was KILLING me.
