Above Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City is a relatively new bridge called “SkyDance”. The architecture is inspired by the state bird, the scissored-tail flycatcher. At night the bridge lights up and changes colors every ten seconds or so. Sarah and I met here one evening in May to shoot ballet portraits incorporating the bridge’s architecture. I wanted flowy fabrics while the sun was still out to give softness next to all the straight lines. Sarah brought these beautiful yellow and blue watercolor skirts. After dark she changed into a galaxy print leotard which I thought lent itself well to the kind of futuristic vibe of the illuminated architecture. I’m proud of what we ended up with!
