Oklahoma City Ballet‘s, Allegra Holland, posed beautifully for me in a studio set up back in January. I had been wanting to try studio lights with dancers since my workshop with Gene Schiavone back in October. Gene touched on studio lighting – which has always intimidated me – but he approached it in a “there are no rules” sort of way and it made me feel like it was something I could handle.
My husband and his business partner kindly let me invade their brewery space to shoot in so that I would have a ceiling tall enough. I used two lights and placed them on either side of the backdrop, moving them around as needed for each pose. Experimenting was the purpose here, and I am very pleased with the results!
