This coat was made in Chimayo, NM and belonged to my husband’s grandmother. She was a talented artist and meant a great deal to my husband and his mother. At Christmas my mother-in-law let us borrow the coat because she knows how much my sister and I love and appreciate Native American style. Because the coat itself was so inspiring, we took it to the studio to photograph it in a modern way. I particularly love the shape of the sleeves and the “wings” that appear when opening the front panels. The coat is all hand woven 100% wool and the inside is lined with a gray/silver silk. Such a treasure, don’t you think?!
